Counselling

As parents and teachers, we tend to be sensitive to issues that bother our children, our students. Therefore we try our best to help them deal with their problems and make their childhood / school days happy. Counselling is one of the useful tool that parents and teachers could use to secure the desired objective.

Counselling is not magic. It is a purposeful, planned activity that could be of variable time duration. It works well when it is a joint effort of the child, teacher, parent and the counsellor. If all these stake holders whole heartedly participate with patience and faith in the process, then the chances of success are extremely high.

The different types of counselling are:

  • Educational counselling for seeking admissions (Inland and Abroad).
  • Vocational counselling for aptitude testing and selection of career.
  • Clinical counselling for dealing with psychological issues.
  • Marriage counselling for marital issues.

The extent of Counselling at the school level depends on the available facilities. At the minimum, we deal with children at the Clinical level. Some of the problems that are normally seen with students are :

Emotional Insecurity

  • Low self-esteem.
  • Withdrawal behavior.
  • Peer pressure, antisocial behavior, suicidal tendencies.

Behavior Issues :

  • Restlessness, Attention deficit disorder (ADD) or Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).
  • Psychosomatic disorders, constant complaint of body pains and aches.
